In case you haven’t noticed, Nike and Football Australia have just launched their new National Team Kits collection for 2025. Over the course of a few weeks worth of hype building, hidden graphics, cryptic content and teasing collaborations, we finally get to reveal one of the most hyped launches of the season this far and undoubtedly the best National team kit launch in recent memory. 

Unprecedented in National team kit design, the team at Nike collaborated on both the Home and Away kits as well as the extended off-pitch collection with renowned Melbourne contemporary artist and proud indigenous Kamilaroi man Reko Rennie. It’s a match that in hindsight makes you wonder why it took so long at all?

Much like Reko Rennie’s artwork the two kits appear as both a visual spectacle on the surface but beneath that are also rooted heavily in the indigenous and urban cultural heritage of Australia. 

Home Jersey - A collector's item?

Bold geometric designs dominate both kits. On the Home, the familiar green and gold has been transformed into a directional neon zig zag pattern reminiscent of Rennie’s signature style — while the pattern itself is derived from the message sticks of Southeast Australian First Nations people. Rennie also referenced the boldness of the 80’s football kits that have become coveted vintage items as inspiration; wanting this kit to stand out on the pitch in a similar way. 

Away Jersey - A revisited classic

The Away kit takes the concept a step further again. A black dominant shirt  accentuated by a bold neon green collar and sleeve cuffs. Rennie’s signature geometric diamond design then appears in neon pink and green on the side panel detailing of the shirt. The bold choice of colour was a conscious decision, not just to align with his own personal aesthetic but to recognise that this kit will be worn by both the mens and women's teams and create a colour scheme that would work without being gender relative.

Goalkeeper Jersey - A standout on pitch

Not to be forgotten, especially when the last kit was a limited edition sellout, thanks in no small part to our Women’s World Cup hero, Macca Arnold. The next iteration of the Australian Goalkeeper kit makes this collection a hat-trick. With a striking blue backdrop acting as a base for a tonal geometric pattern, again recalling the strong 80’s graphics of years past. We can't wait to see how this comes together on pitch with its matching off-pitch and training collection.
