adidas Launch The Special Edition Messi X Speedflow 'El Retorno'
They say timing is everything, and the timing of the new adidas Messi Special Edition X Speedflow 'El Retorno' boots couldn't be better.
With Argentina beating Colombia in the Copa America semi-final this morning, the stage is set for Lionel Messi to get the big international trophy he so craves with La Albiceleste in his new signature edition boots.
Boot aficionados will have noticed Messi has been playing in the 'El Retorno' boots all tournament. The release date was always intended to be later in the tournament which has now turned out perfectly given Argentina face Brazil in the final. It doesn't get any bigger or better.

It's also no surprise but very cool to see adidas paying homage to F50 with this release. Given F50 had been so successful in the past, the transition back to the iconic silo is sure to excite fans of the Three Stripes. Even if it's not called F50.
Predator dropped off the scene and came back in stunning fashion with the Predator Mutator. F50 has been gone for years and if this X Speedflow 'El Retorno' is a sign of things to come, strap in speed boot fans - things are about to get exciting.
The colourway for the new X Speedflow is Tech Metallic/Core Black/Intense Orange which is inspired by the adidas F30 boot Messi wore when he produced one of the finest moments in his career - THAT goal against Getafe in the Copa Del Rey way back win 2007.
The MESSI + 10 logo is seen on the tongue and medial side of the boots, while the Argentina flag is found on the sockliners.
Cementing the transition back to an F50 state of mind is the +F50 logo in orange which sits on the left boot, while a +F30 logo is seen on the right boot which ties in the colourway.
The boot is rounded off with a chrome soleplate which is always a winner, with the carbon inset adding some extra tech which we rate highly. This is a Messi boot in every sense, and there's details and tech in all areas of the boots to make sure this boot is up to the GOATs standards.
