It's just over 200 days until the 17th UEFA European Championships in Germany, the home of adidas, and you knew the Three Stripes would come through with something special from a ball perspective for this massive tournament on home soil.

With that, adidas has just launched the FUSSBALLLIEBE Pro, the official match ball for UEFA Euro 2024. The design inspiration for the ball is the joy that football brings, along with the energy of the tournament.

The name, FUSSBALLLIEBE, means 'love of football' in German. Even the name itself has helped promote adidas’s campaign target; how the passion for football is unmatched. No other sport comes close.

The complex design of the ball represents the energy of the game through prominent black wing shapes, finished with bright, colourful edges. The bold red, blue, green, and orange colours represent the vibrancy that the nations will bring to the tournament, as well as the pure simplicity of the sport that attracts so much love from around the world.

To minimize any excuses players might have for poor performances, adidas has developed the ball to promote greater accuracy in play. Its 'Precisionshell,' 20-piece panel shape, and strategically placed deboss grooves were specifically researched and tested in the lab and on the pitch to control the airflow over the ball for greater precision in play. The CTR-CORE within the ball supports the outer shell and is also designed to increase accuracy and consistency while facilitating fast, precise play.

Another key feature seen within the ball is adidas' 'connected ball technology,' which sends accurate ball data to match officials instantly. This is the first time the UEFA European Football Championship has been equipped with such technology, ultimately supporting faster in-match and VAR decisions, reducing time spent resolving handball or penalty calls.

Apart from providing players with more accurate play and officials with data for decisions, the FUSSBALLLIEBE is also manufactured using recycled polyester and water-based ink. The football is made from more bio-based substances than any previous adidas official match ball, incorporating layers of corn fibers, sugar cane, wood pulp, and rubber. Although people may wonder how this will affect the quality of the ball, adidas states it was created using such materials "without impacting its performance."

In addition to being mindful of the environment when creating this ball, adidas has announced that 1% of net sales will contribute towards Common Goal. Common Goal is a pledge-based charitable movement working to maximize the power of Football for Good. This organisation aims for global change in social and environmental aspects regarding race, ethnicity, beliefs, religion, gender, sexual orientation, etc. Adidas not only wants to enhance the aspects of the game on the pitch but also off the pitch, ensuring that every individual in the footballing community feels accepted and safe.
