It's UCL Final Preview And Giveaway Time!

The pinnacle of club football is here with Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich set for a scintillating Champions League final. A dream final for those keen to watch two teams in red hot form coming into the game, scoring plenty of goals with individuals that can turn it on in an instant and win the game for their side. Who will win though? Who should you look out for? And how do you go into the draw to win a jersey of choice and UCL mini ball? Read our preview or skip to the bottom to get straight to the voting!

PSG

PSG have been dreaming of European glory for years. They first tasted continental success back in the 1995/96 season – taking out the now abolished UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in Brussels. Bruno N’Gotty got the only goal of the game for the Parisians against Rapid Wien. PSG had a few stars back then like Youri Djorkaeff and co – but it pales into comparison to present day. A time where the club are backed by cashed up middle eastern investors in the form of Qatar Sports Investments. PSG’s notorious owners since 2011.

Paris Saint-Germain

It’s been a massive success no doubt for the Qatari owners, winning Ligue 1 year after year and domestic cup competitions on the back of pumping over a billion dollars into the club on transfers. The likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva, Edinson Cavani, Angel Di Maria, David Beckham, Kylian Mbappé and Neymar have all helped transform this club into a global elite brand, but they haven’t got the trophy they ever so crave to prove they're where they belong.

Form wise they are looking stronger than ever with Thiago Silva’s experience and leadership at the back crucial in what will be his last game for the club. If the defensive side of PSG’s game can hold up then they are every chance, with their attacking quartet of Neymar, Mbappé, Di Maria and Icardi always looking like there’s goals to be had.

Bayern

Another global powerhouse but one that’s been around 70 years longer than PSG. Bayern Munich have been there or thereabouts over the last few years but haven’t quite managed to pull it together when it mattered. Their last Champions League success came back in the 2012/13 in London where they beat Borussia Dortmund in the Der Klassiker final. Mario Mandžukić first scored before Arjen Robben got the winner at the death in a 2-1 win. Since then the club has been desperate to take their tally to six, where they would join Liverpool on the all-time list in third overall, only behind AC Milan and Real Madrid.

Bayern Munich

Surprisingly for a club of Bayern’s size and stature – they have been quite astute and diligent in the transfer market of late to get to where they are now. Not just completely splashing the cash in order to find their success. It’s simply incredible that their starting 11 that beat Lyon only cost around 80 million pounds when you look at the names on the team sheet.

Hans-Dieter "Hansi" Flick has done an exceptional job since he took over Robert Kovač earlier in the season. Flick's charisma struck a cord with players which rejuvenated confidence within the team, didn’t over-complicate things and started to play players that had been pushed aside, notably Thomas Müller, and the results have been clear – this Bayern side is red hot and ready for the final.

Bayern play the highest defensive line in Europe at the moment and rely on speed to get back if they get caught out and Lyon did show that you can get in behind them, having a few chances they should have taken in the first 20 or so minutes of the semi-final. In true Bayern fashion though they made Lyon pay the price for not taking their chances. It’s clear that Bayern are ready for this and should be favourites, but if PSG can get in behind and take their chances we may see an upset.

Who to look out for?

Neymar

Neymar looks like a man possessed by the lure of winning another Champions League. His performances have been on another level rocking his Jogo Prismatico Mercurial Vapors both pre and post lockdown this season. Bayern will have some concerns having to face the Brazilian in the form of his life. There simply aren’t many players who can beat a man, pick a pass or use flair to their advantage like Neymar.

If he is at his absolute best linking up with Mbappé and co on Monday morning, then there’s every possibility we’ll see him lift the trophy he craves. We predict he’ll score in the final just like he did in 2015 against Juventus – his only Champions League final win to date.

Robert Lewandowski

Speaking of men possessed… Robert Lewandowski’s form this season has been other worldly. The Polish hitman has scored a whopping 55 goals in all competitions, including 15 goals in just 9 games in the Champions League. In the final he has the chance to equal Cristiano Ronaldo’s all-time record of 17 goals in a single UCL campaign if he manages to score 2 goals in his Neighbourhood Pack Phantom VNM’s. We wouldn’t rule it out on current form.

For a player that’s come from the Polish 3rd division and worked harder than anyone to reach the top – we wouldn’t have any arguments if he broke the record and helped Bayern lift their 6th European Cup. What a player he is.

Kylian Mbappé

A young player that stands out in a league of his own. He’s so good that when you discuss the best young players in the game you rarely mention him in the same breath as anyone else. It’s Mbappé, daylight, then the conversation begins around who the next best is. At 21 years of age the young man who’s playing for his hometown club has already achieved so much – but a Champions League win for the local kid from Bondy, Paris, might just be his most cherished success; even more so than his 2018 World Cup triumph with France.

Bayern are going to have to hold up defensively if they are going to stop him in his Daybreak Pack Mercurial Superfly’s. If he adds the Champions League to his list of achievements, the only thing left to conquer would be the Ballon d’or which he will almost certainly win one day. GOAT status loading, as they say.

Serge Gnabry

Serge Gnabry has been a revelation at Bayern Munich. You only had to tune in to the semi-final against Lyon to see what he is capable of, cutting in from the right wing with strength, power and outstanding skill before smashing the ball home with his non-preferred left foot to open the scoring for Bayern. He followed up with a second as well capping off another top-notch performance.

Not bad for a player former West Brom manager Tony Pulis deemed not good enough when he was on loan at the club from Arsenal back in 2015. Wouldn’t Arsenal be kicking themselves they let him go!

We predict another big game is on the cards for Serge, rocking the upcoming adidas X Ghosted. We wouldn’t rule out more goals for the man in form.

Now it’s up to you. Let us know the final score and goal scorers for your chance to win either Champions League final jersey and ball. Enjoy the match!
