Around The Grounds #2

From CR7’s Jumpman style leap against Sampdoria to forgotten man Renato Sanches back in top form at Lille, there’s always a s**t load of big things going on in the world game – here are some of our highlights.

  • Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus) – Dream Speed Mercurial Superfly

Starting with the man mentioned in the intro, Ronaldo was up to his superhuman best in Dream Speed Mercurial away at Sampdoria. Just before half time CR7 went full Jumpman, with hang time so epic even MJ would have been stunned, as he rose high to meet Alex Sandro’s perfectly executed cross.

At 34 years old he never ceases to amaze us. Just look at the hang time! That’s now 10 for the season.

  • Roberto Firmino (Liverpool) – Encryption Pack Nemeziz 19+

Liverpool left the kids at home to face Aston Villa in the League Cup which meant Roberto Firmino and the senior Reds got to take on Monterrey in the FIFA™ Club World Cup.

Firmino has been a victim of his own success of late, with Liverpool fans perhaps harshly criticising him for his lack of goals recently. It took Liverpool until “Kloppage” time once again to find the killer blow needed to progress to the final, with Firmino making no mistake in Encryption Code Nemeziz after Trent Alexander-Arnold’s gorgeously weighted pass.

Si senor,

Give the ball to Bobby and he will score.

  • Philippe Coutinho (FC Bayern) – New Lights Mercurial Vapor

When Bayern are at their attacking best they are almost unstoppable as Tottenham found out earlier this season. Werder Bremen were the latest side to be decimated by the Bavarian's at top form, with Philippe Coutinho scoring a hat-trick in New Lights Mercurial Vapor as part of a 6-1 demolition.

It’s been a stop start campaign for Bayern this season but with Hansi Flick seemingly galvanising the squad after the end of Niko Kovač’s tenure, in which half the dressing room had lost faith in the boss, could Bayern with Flick charge up the table for another title win? We expect it to be tight come May.

PS - How good was it seeing the A-League's own Sarpreet Singh come on for Phil!?

  • Lucas Moura (Tottenham Hotspur) – Encryption Pack X 19+

Lucas Moura scored one of the best from the Around The Grounds bunch this week in Encryption Pack X 19+, driving in to the Wolves box beating multiple players before lashing one into the roof of the net past Rui Patrício.

Power. Accuracy. Check it out.

  • Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) – Phantom Fire Vision

Best midfielder in the Premier League? Probably. KDB is an absolute weapon in Phantom Fire Vision.

Arsenal are having a tough run under caretaker boss Freddie Ljungberg who is eager for Arsenal to sort out their coaching staff sooner rather than later. KDB wasn’t going to give Arsenal any sympathy on his quest to drag Man City back to the top of the EPL.

Two thumping goals and an assist for Raheem Sterling, also in the Phantom Fire range with the Phantom Venom, were enough to beat a dire Arsenal side in need of urgent attention on and off the park if they are to stand any chance of making the top four.

Mikel Arteta sure would be an exciting gamble with the young coach highly rated by many of the games greats, including Pep Guardiola.

  • Paulo Dybala (Juventus) – Encryption Code Copa 19+

We were tossing up whether to include 2 Juve players this week. We had to include CR7 with that hang time effort, but when you consider how good Paulo Dybala has been this season and how good his goal was against Sampdoria as well, we had to include La Joya in his Encryption Pack Copa 19+ for this weeks Around The Grounds too.

What a strike force, along with Pipita Gonzalo Higuaín.

  • Robert Lewandowski (FC Bayern) – Phantom Fire Phantom Venom

Another game, another goal for Robert Lewandowski in Phatom Fire Venom who is now 1 goal clear of Timo Werner in the race for the Torjägerkanone.

Every time the Pole lines up for Bayern this season you expect him to score, and that crisp away kit with venom's on feet is one killer combo for the killer in front of goal.

With Timo on his heels, who do you expect will take home the award at the end of the season?

  • Renato Sanches (Lille OSC) – Hard Wired Predator 19+

The somewhat forgotten wonderkid. After exploding on to the scene at Benfica and for Portugal during Euro 2016, things got a little tougher of late with stints at Bayern and Swansea not exactly living up to expectations. That’s being polite.

Renato Sanches has now found himself looking to resurrect his career in Ligue 1 at Lille OSC, and after a slow start to the season he’s now finding that 2016 form again.

Sanches played a starring role against Montpellier in Hard Wired Predator 19+, scoring the winning goal after cutting in from the left and finding the bottom corner with a great strike.

Lille are now sitting in the top 3 which means they’ll see Champions League action next season if things continue on this path, and perhaps we’ll see Sanches back in the mix for another big move back to one of the European giants.

  • Alexander Nubel (FC Schalke 04)

If Alexander Nubel doesn’t reach the heights expected of him with many of the big clubs like Bayern monitoring him as a future signing, he could always go and try his luck in the UFC.

His red card against Frankfurt was the definition of reckless. Check it out. Parental guidance advised.

  • Jürgen Klinsmann (Hertha BSC)

You may have missed it, but after so long in the US you’d almost think he was American, Jürgen Klinsmann is back in Germany as manager of Hertha BSC.

After initially joining the club to sit on the advisory board by major shareholder Lars Windhorst, Klinsmann has been thrown into the hotseat with so much money at steak and the potential danger of relegation an ever-growing possibility for the Berlin based club.

Hertha got their first win under Klinsmann against Freiburg at the weekend and followed it up midweek with an away win over Leverkusen. These wins will be used as a potential launch pad for the club on their way out of danger.

Windhorst wants Hertha not only to become a German powerhouse with a new stadium in his sights, he also has his sights set on dominating Europe. Whether Klinsmann is a long-term solution remains to be seen but there are big, big plans for Hertha. Let’s wait and see. For now it's happy days for Klinsi.
