
Sam Kerr Becomes First Australian to Finish Top 3 in Ballon d'Or

Sam Kerr has finished 3rd in the Ballon d'Or Féminin overnight, being named as the third-best player in the world, only behind Barcelona stars; Alexia Putellas & Jenni Hermoso.
Kerr had a fantastic 2021, winning the WSL golden boot with 28 goals and fired Chelsea to a WSL and League cup double and the Champions League final, scoring 6 goals in the Matilda’s Olympic campaign and has started this season on fire for Chelsea scoring 13 in 12.
Sam Kerr is the first player in Australian football history to finish top 3 in the Ballon d’Or and remains as one of the only Aussies to be nominated sitting amongst an elite group of Australian footballers to be nominated for the award, including the likes of; Harry Kewell, Tim Cahill & Massimo Luongo.
