Joaquín has lifted two of them, 17 years apart. The first was in 2005 at the Vicente Calderón in Madrid. John Aloisi was on the scoresheet that night for Osasuna who went down 2-1. He was 23 years old and already a Bético legend. Who would have predicted what would come next, all these years later? View this post on Instagram A post shared by Real Betis Balompié (@realbetisbalompie) Betis left-back Juan Miranda was a 5 year old boy who travelled to Madrid to see the final that night. One of his earliest memories which no doubt started his drive for greatness with his hometown club. In the early hours of this morning he was on the bench for Betis and watched on as Manuel Pellegrini brought Joaquín on. 86 minutes in locked at 1-1. Joaquín's introduction brought the Betis fans to life as it so often does, pushing their team on to find a winner. Wanting a taste of what Miranda experienced as a child. An experience few and far between for one of Spanish football's great clubs. With it still even late on it was Miranda’s time to make his mark. Galvanised by the rallying cry his teammate provided when he entered the field. He came on with penalties looming large. The referees final whistle meant his moment was here. After a perfect start from both sides Joaquín stepped and just squeezed his pen past Mamardashvili. 19-year old Yunus Musah was the unlucky one to miss for Valencia. It fell to Miranda to score the winner and go down in history and he did so, meaning Joaquín would lift the trophy once more. This time at La Cartuja in Seville - Betis's hometown. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Real Betis Balompié (@realbetisbalompie) Joaquín is one of football's most popular players and is on the perfect farewell tour. That's If he indeed calls time on his career at the end of the season. It seems the ideal send off but an intense love for the game still creates uncertainty. If it is, we'll miss him. The game will miss him, too. Enormously. It's because Joaquín is a bit of all of us. A football fan. Someone who loves the game we all love with a passion that runs so deep the footballing gods have gifted him the longevity needed to allow him to still affect games at 40 years of age. Chances are he’ll still be partying as we speak. Joaquín and Miranda aren't the only two people worth a mention in this incredibly positive experience for the club. We must mention the brilliant work of Manuel Pellegrini who after 34 years of management, has won the Copa del Rey for the first time. At 68 years of age, the evergreen Pellegrini continues to set his teams up to play positive, exciting football. We're all better for it. A final word needs to be said on Héctor Bellerín. When he left Arsenal to go on loan last year, the simple choice for him might have been staying somewhere in England. Somewhere comfortable. Somewhere the British fans could keep an eye on him, just down the road. Bellerín took a different, surprising, path in choosing Betis. A choice that got people talking. The reason for the move, he says, is rather simple. His dad is Real Betis fan through and through. Something Bellerín has since thanked him for. A reason for the decision which ultimately might be the most satisfying of his career. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Héctor Bellerín (@hectorbellerin) The post victory celebrations in Seville look as good as you'd expect. Shout out to Bellerín and Aitor Ruibal for lighting the scenes up even more with some stunning retro kits. It's hard not to love this club. It's not every Cup Final you see so many heart warming stories attached. If every one could be as nice as this - football would be in a great place.
