Around The Grounds #8
Thu, Sep 24.20
Another massive week in football with plenty happening around the grounds. Pogba debuted his epic new Predators, Kevin De Bruyne was back to his scintillating best (of course) and it was a debut goal for a player we’ll be keeping a very close eye on this season; Dejan Kulusevski. The boy is something special!
First to World Cup winner Paul Pogba. We’re always keen to see what adidas dishes up for the Frenchman and the latest Pogba Season 7 Collection is one of the better ones we’ve seen. This Saturday night, in a real treat for Australian Manchester United fans, Brighton play United at 9:30pm. That means you'll be able to see Pogba strut his stuff in the centre of the park for United at a welcome timeslot over on Optus Sport. The all over PP logo works wonders on that upper and we think you’ll agree that the UltraBOOST Trainer really hits the mark this time around. As always numbers are tight with these limited edition drops, so act now if you want a pair!
The last dance style Messi show has begun, with the little maestro taking the field in the Joan Gamper Trophy, an annual friendly football match held before the start of FC Barcelona's La Liga season. This traditional match is hosted by the club at the Camp Nou and is named after Joan Gamper who is an iconic figure for the club. When you have a CV that includes being a founding member, player and president of the club – you probably deserve to be named after something.
Messi didn’t score but was his usual self in his signature Nemeziz 19.1’s. It’s going to be extraordinary following him this season with every bit of body language now scrutinised by amateur psychologists in the media looking for an angle, since his much publicised desire to leave the club was blocked by the board. Stay tuned, we’ll be following this one and giving you all the updates.
Kevin De Bruyne is on a different level of midfield dynamism. Some of the balls he plays are just ludicrous and not many players, if any, can do what he can do from midfield. The amazing thing is he can basically play anywhere in there as well. A truly formidable player rocking the all new Phantom GT’s – our favourite thing about Kevin is he genuinely seems like such a likeable guy as well. Keep it up Kev, and if you haven’t got him in your Fantasy Premier League team we suggest you figure out a way ASAP.
Liverpool training now gets plenty more eyes on it given how good they are (and how 🔥 their training apparel is!) and this week we noticed Joe Gomez, usually a Nike man, rocking the adidas Inflight pack Predator 20.1 lows. A man who looks destined to be a starting centre back for Liverpool and the England National Team for a long time looks to be joining the adidas Predator family and why not? The Predator lows are exceptional.
As mentioned at the top – we’re all in on Kulusevski. The boy was showing serious potential at Parma last season and seems like a perfect fit for Juventus. A team that looked desperate for some freshness now gets it with Kulusevski upfront and Weston McKennie from midfield. The way Kulusevski took his goal after some hard work by Cristiano Ronaldo shows the confidence and class the young man has, bending the ball into the bottom corner first time like a surgeon. Andrea Pirlo is very green but with the energy and quality young Kulusevski brings rocking the Daybreak pack Superfly’s – his job will be easier than most other new managers.
Zlatan Ibrahimović is about to turn 39 in October. 39. The man just refuses to slow down after yet another immense start to a new campaign scoring 2 goals against Bologna. He proclaimed himself as Benjamin Button post-match and said that if he was 20 years old he would have scored 4. We hope he plays forever because the genius on the park is always matched quality material to the press off the park. A man bringing a winning mentality to a club that has been missing that experience for a long time - you love to see it. Don’t miss the chance to own this season's AC Milan 20/21 home jersey to pay homage to one of the all-time greats.
